I booked Christy for, let’s see….. Engagement, Wedding, Maturnity, Newborn, and then finally Family photos! Sounds simple enough right? Well not really! See the catch was I booked her for ALL of those at one time and needed them in a time span of a month! Due to the military we never had time to get engaement pictures done when we got engaged, then since we are station in Hawaii we had a wedding here but no party so we had the wedding party back home! By the time we were actually able to take leave and get back home I was pregnant. So I booked her for all of those in such a short amount of time and with out being really sure as to exact dates, I was sure she wouldn’t be able to fit me in! She was so nice and undertanding of our situation and somehow managed to fit me and all my sessions! First you fall in love with her work, then as soon as you meet her you fall in love with her! You fall in love with her family too if you ever get the pleasure of meeting them! I actually find myself missing them since I’ve been gone! I can hardly wait to find an excuse to see them all again!

I booked Southern Expressions to catch all my “once in a lifetime event” memories for my wedding…All I can say is PERFECT! Christy not only arrived ahead of time to scope the landscape, but to determine the lighting and the direction of the shot to make the best of our ONE DAY. We had our wedding in the Opryland Conservatory. So there were people, landscaping, timing, and lighting that she had to incorporate into a two hour window.

When I received my package from Christy, I was amazed that she was able to tell our story with her photos. The romance, the mood, the excitement, the importance of family, and she caught all the little details that I just didn’t imagine she could get.
I was so excited, nervous, and busy that day that it was a bit of a blur. But looking at the photos with my husband, it was like reliving that day in the eyes of everyone that was there, My favorite are the photos when we weren’t smiling and saying Cheese. They were the shots she took when we didn’t even realize she was there.

All I can say…. I would never choose anyone else to capture my memories. Remember, most photos are a once in a lifetime thing. It’s one moment in time that won’t be repeated again. You need a professional that can capture the essense of that moment. To capture you, your family, your event, and your life at that moment.
Thank you Christy and Southern Expressions!

After looking around on Christys’ website and FB page I called and booked her MONTHS in advance for my sons newborn pictures. I am so glad that I did, because not only did his pictures turn out wonderfully the experience was also amazing. After having the experience we did with her, she has done 2 Family sessions for us. My husband absolutely hates having his picture taken, and yet he was completely comfortable each time she has taken them for us. If we ever move back in to the area, we will be calling about about pictures again. I feel truly blessed to have met Christy. She has captured some amazing memories for my family & I. And the albums that I ordered, you can tell just how much time and effort she put into them. Everyone always asks me about them and says how wonderful they are. So thank you Christy for the beautiful pictures, and for capturing some amazing memories for my family & I. We will never forget you. :)

I found Southern Expressions Photography through a friend on Facebook. I was instantly drawn to her work and knew that when I had my daughter, I wanted Christy to take her photos ( even if it meant driving 2 hours)

When I arrived for our session, Christy greeted me cheerfully at my truck and helped me bring everything in to her studio. I was a little nervous because as much as I tried to follow her instructions for the session my daughter was not one of those babies that you could feed and would zonk out. Christy didn’t care. Her patience for my little stinker was unbelievable. She patted and soothed until she could get Baby A to do exactly what she wanted.

The portraits she took of my daughter turned out amazing. Everything about them was perfect and I could not believe all the awesome shots she was able to capture. I honestly don’t think it is the camera she snaps the picture with, it is her eye that captures every perfect image.

I fell in love with her and her work so much that when my sister had her baby, I insisted Christy take her pictures. We loaded up and headed to Georgia once again. Again, I was overwhelmed. I honestly could sit and watch her work all day.

The business name fits perfectly with Christy’s southern charm and hospitality, but if I had to rename her I would call her ” The Baby Whisperer of the South.”

Thank You, Christy, for providing our family with such wonderful memories.

After looking at Christy’s work and hearing many people recommend her I booked her to photograph my 4 year old twin daughters. I had a very specific vision that I had in mind and shared that with her. I wanted traditional wall portraits with a modern flair. She listened to what I had to say, gave suggestions and got started with my girls. Christy was patient, kind, and my girls actually enjoyed having their pictures taken. This had certainly not been the case in the past! She was able to capture their individual personalities and also photograph the incredible bond that my girls share. I was blown away with the pictures and have the exact wall portraits that I had envisioned. I also ordered a photo album that Christy designed using the pictures from our session and it is incredible!! I will treasure it forever. I could not recommend a photographer more, from start to finish she was a joy to work with. She is wonderful with kids, has a great eye, and most of all it is obvious that she loves what she does. All of these qualities combined together for a perfect photography experience.

Christy is a great photographer who is willing to work with me no matter my style for the photo session – formal, casual, whimsical or straight forward. We have so much fun and most of the time it’s like she can read my mind. She is a photographer who can capture my family’s most cherished moments and it’s a big plus that she gets our sense of humor. She makes capturing the ‘perfect’ shot appear entirely effortless and completely natural. When I am asked for photographer recommendations, I will never hesitate to refer friends, and family to Southern Expressions Photography c/o Christy Spurlock.

As I have not had the pleasure of Christy photographing my family (which I am hoping to make happen one day on a trip to GA!) I have attended 1 workshop w/her in TN and 1 mentor session with her at her studio in GA. All I have to say is that as a new photographer, she is truly inspiring. She goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, by the end of the day you leave, not only with much helpful information to progress in your business, you feel that you have gained a friend. I can only hope to make my clients feel as important and produce images as amazing as she does.

Christy did our sweet baby’s new born and 6 months pictures and we love them!! She is absolutely amazing with new borns. I would have NEVER choose anyone else to take Allee’s first pictures. I can’t say enough good things about Christy or her beautiful work other than take a look at it and see for yourself. You just can’t go wrong! Christy is beautiful inside and out, she is very laid back. She is super talented and loves to turn your ideas a photograph of art. (She did a very special picture of Allee for my hubby and he still loves that picture today Camo and deer horns and she never questioned it just made it happen beautifully!)

I was referred to Christy by a friend for my son’s newborn pictures. When we arrived the studio was warm and toasty so my little one would be comfortable and make it easy to sleep. I was so happy with the session and photos we have since had her take his one year pictures, maternity and newborn pictures for our second child, and my extended family session on the beach. Christy is an incredible photographer! It was amazing to see how the picture was taken and then what the print looks like in the end. You will not be disappointed if you book her for any session, if she can handle my family then she can handle it all!
