Anyone who knows me knows that my absolute favorite sessions are the newborns. Are they easy??? NO! lol! But, they are so worth it. I love the challenge of soothing them when they are fussy and getting swoon worthy images for their parents. Very rarely have I had one sleep the entire time. On the contrary, they tend to wake very often and easy. Usually, the sessions last 2-3 hours. Yes, I did say 2-3 HOURS. You have to allow time for feeding, rocking, soothing, and diaper changing.
Today, Miss Lucy was my most challenging subject to date. She did very little sleeping. But, omgoodness, she was so sweet and beautiful!!! Mom, Dad, and Aunt were very doting and helpful. For first time parents, they were extremely calm and knew just what little Lucy needed. Thank you for inviting me into your home to share in this joyous time!

I LOVED this image to show how tiny she is. :)

 I had an absolute blast working with Kenzie and her Mom, Joanna, last night. It was quite a twist from my usual work, but we completely ran with it. Although the look we were going for was a little more dark and “goth,” Kenzie’s natural beauty still shined. Heavy makeup and dark clothing can’t hide this stunner!

{ Family is LOVE }

I had a session this morning with my sweet nieces and nephew. It was warm with a great breeze. I was surprised when all three said they had fun. except Emma admitted that she was ready to come home and play with my rugrats. :)
I can’t believe how much they have grown since last summer. They leave soon to go back home to Germany. (Dad is in the Air Force) We always miss them bunches! Hope you enjoy these images, Matt and Briana.

I know that I say it every. single. time. BUT, I really do ♥ newborns. Today was no different. I had a play date with Miss Kiley. yay! Even though I didn’t have my super-duper, BFF assistant, Heather, I think I managed to get a few good shots… with the awesome help of Mom. ;) Enjoy!

I ♥ Newborns!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

I know that I have said it many times before, but I really do LOVE newborn sessions! I think it is my passion. :) Here is a sneak peek from the gorgeous baby girl that I got to play with today. Thanks again to my favorite assistant (and BFF) Heather! I think we make an awesome team. What do you think??? Take a look below…

{ Watching them grow }

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

I know that this sneak peek is waaaaay late since I normally post the same day or the next, at the latest. I was on vacation at my Mother’s in Tn when I met up with Nikki and her beautiful family. They drove two hours to work with me again. I think we are gonna make it a yearly thing. That will be so exciting for me to watch the kids grow through the years. We chose another historical spot. I think it’s a cool learning experience for everyone. :) This particular day, the park had a re-enactment of the Civil War- the Union side of view. Pretty interesting even without me locking my keys in my vehicle. Thankfully, the local Sheriff’s office helped me out!
Here is your (late) sneak peek, Nikki! Hope you enjoy. I look forward to next year!

On a more serious business note, I have become overwhelmed with my business and my family. I am making changes, hopefully for the better. It used to take me 1 to 1.5 weeks to edit a session, sometimes less, and have the slideshow ready. Since having two large weddings back-to-back, I have been unable to catch up. I expected too much out of myself. I still gave to my family, but I wasn’t giving to me. I can’t go on like this. My sessions are now taking 2-3 weeks to complete. I understand that is still considered quickly by most of you, but it isn’t to me. I like to clean my slate. I will honor all of my current commitments, but will drastically cut down on the number of bookings I accept. Also, no more weddings for me. I know I shouldn’t say NO. One may come along that I just can’t refuse, but, for now, I am saying that I can direct you to some wonderful photogs that will be more than happy to help you out. :) I hope that you all understand. Thank you for your kindness, compliments, and encouragement. You all have made my business the success that I consider it to be.

The storm held off for us last night to get Amy’s family pictures. It is always an adventure when you have children added in. :) I LOVE it!! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek. There are many more to come.

Last night’s session was rescheduled from Thursday night due to all this rain we have had lately. The rain doesn’t necessarily scare me, but the lightning sure does. ;) Anyway, Miranda called me with an update of the weather and I headed over to Amelia Island Plantation. That place is beautiful!
I know this is a rather large “sneak peek,” but I do believe that this is my newest favorite session. Ok, I know that I say that all the time, but goodness, I LOVE these images. I hope you like them as much as me!

Last night, I had a session with not one, but two beautiful families. Seriously, how cute can these kids AND teens get?!? Wow! Moms, hope you like what you see because there is lots more to come. ;)

{ fairies- part 2 }

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I had soooo much fun taking these pictures. I think I had almost as much fun editing them. I tried out something new for me. I applied textures, by the wonderful Jessica Drossin,  to some of the images. I have admired the textured images of other photographers for a while now, but never really had an image that just made me crazy to try it myself. Well, these adorable fairies were just what I needed to give it a go. I’m glad I did. I’m in love with the technique now. :)
