{ Welcome Home USS Farragut }

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Today was a hot one, but you won’t dare find me complaining. I was out in the sun for an awesome reason. USS Farragut returned home safely after a 7 month deployment. I am in awe of not only what our sailors do for us, but also for what their families manage on a daily basis as well. They have my utmost respect. Below is just a few images that I captured today.

Take a close look at the sign on the ship. Amazing!

Cicley’s husband is taking a picture of his two beautiful girls. :)

{ Welcome baby Wyatt }

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

 Yesterday, I went and visited with sweet, baby Wyatt, his adorable, big sister, and beautiful Mommy. Oh, he was so precious! The images we were after are very special. You see, this was another of my OpLove sessions. Daddy didn’t get to come home for the birth of his baby boy. :( So, it was my job to get some photographs of his wonderful family to surprise him. I think he will love them.

{ welcome home daddy }

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Today was a BIG day for a new friend! Not only did Nellie welcome home her hubby from a deployment overseas, she should also be welcoming baby Deacon. :D That should be one proud, happy, and probably loud household tonight!

I met Nellie through emails a few months ago with my work for OpLove. She was looking for someone to capture the arrival of her husband, but with 2 toddlers and a new baby on the way, she couldn’t do it all herself. That is where I came in. We conversed back and forth numerous times. She decided to bring the boys to me for a session on the farm. (You can see those images HERE.) I immediately fell in love with the little fellas.
When I mentioned that I would like to do a “different” type of maternity shoot, Nellie volunteered. (You can see those images HERE.) I was and still am over the moon with the images we captured that day! I have never seen a more beautiful pregnant woman. Wow! Wouldn’t we all like to look like that?!?

Today was the HOMECOMING!!! I have never witnessed this before. Oh my goodness! It was AWESOME! You could really feel the excitement on the pier. All of these people surrounding you that haven’t seen their loved ones in 6 months. It was pretty emotional. You can’t help but to get caught up in it! (One sailor even asked his girlfriend to marry him as soon as he stepped off the ship.) Nellie’s boys were ecstatic to see Daddy as you can see by the pics below. Nellie was pretty happy, too. ;)

On top of  all that, Nellie left a note on my facebook “wall” letting me know that she was having contractions 3 minutes apart. woohoo! I had a feeling that it was going to be today. Last Wednesday, she started having contractions. (Not to be confused with braxton hicks. After all, this is a Mommy to 2. She knows what is what.) We were worried that little Deacon was not going to wait for Daddy. Well, Sunday, the contractions stopped. But, we should have a baby by now or pretty close to it. yay! I look forward to his newborn pics soon!

{ Op-Love }

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Last Tuesday, I had my first OpLove session since becoming a volunteer several months ago. I was excited and a bit nervous. I don’t know why because I have worked with many families that I had never met before. But, this family was different for me. This is a military family. This is a “single” Mom raising her children the best she can while her husband is deployed in a foreign land protecting you and I. I CAN NOT imagine the life of a military wife (or husband.) I just can’t. I have the upmost respect for all service personnel and their families. I have two nephews that I am quite proud of serving our country. Anyone who follows my work knows my wonderful and talented friend Kayse. Her husband is active military, too. I get to hear just a little bit of what she has to deal with on a daily basis. I couldn’t do what they do. So, I volunteer for this organization to offer something special for the deployed spouse.

Back to the pictures… I had a very active session with Charity and her family at the waterfront. This was the most challenging session ever. Her little fella did not want to take pics. He wanted to explore everything and everywhere. Well, he is only 3 about to be 4. So, who could blame him?!? haha! I think we got some great images for Dad anyway :)
