I had an absolute blast working with Kenzie and her Mom, Joanna, last night. It was quite a twist from my usual work, but we completely ran with it. Although the look we were going for was a little more dark and “goth,” Kenzie’s natural beauty still shined. Heavy makeup and dark clothing can’t hide this stunner!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010I had soooo much fun taking these pictures. I think I had almost as much fun editing them. I tried out something new for me. I applied textures, by the wonderful Jessica Drossin, to some of the images. I have admired the textured images of other photographers for a while now, but never really had an image that just made me crazy to try it myself. Well, these adorable fairies were just what I needed to give it a go. I’m glad I did. I’m in love with the technique now.

{ what to wear }
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010I get questions all the time about wardrobe. What should I wear?, What should my husband wear?, etc. This week, the extremely talented photographer, Kelsey Anderson, is a guest blogger on another photography website, MCP actions. She posted a GREAT tutorial for family outfits. So, go check out this wonderful visual guide.
No post without a pic! Here is my gorgeous niece, Jade, in an example of my senior sessions.
Also, this dress is available to be used as a prop for a senior session.

Monday, June 7th, 2010Practice makes perfect. While I am far from perfect, I do like to practice every chance I get. Every once in a while, I like to do a shoot for pure fun. Today’s play date was one of those days. I got the idea for it several months ago while riding in the hunting club with my husband. (Yes, we are “southern”:) I have an idea for another one in the woods, but it will have to wait for cooler weather. I digress…
Thanks to three beautiful, sweet little girls, who also happen to be the best of friends, I had my models. Thanks to the creativity of the moms, I had the costumes. We didn’t see any snakes. The yellow flies left us alone, too. The most exciting part of the day was mud-bogging in the minivan. Looking at the images we captured, I can say that it was totally worth it! Don’t you agree?!?
